Editorial Note

This is the fourth volume in the series of NOUN Law Journal. As it was in the first, second and third editions, the publication is a result of the Faculty of Law being conscious of its research responsibility to the larger society.

The chapters in this volume, as usual, provide legal reasoning and solutions on various topics in our contemporary society. They were carefully selected from many contributions after undergoing rigorous double-blind review process. No doubt, the quality, depth and information content of the articles make them valuable literatures in law and social sciences and vital in resolving societal conflicts.

This edition covers wide areas of law. The topics covered in this volume

are: Prison Education as a Rehabilitative Tool for  Recidivism Prevention in Nigeria; Contextualising the Applicability of International Humanitarian Law and Human Rights Norms in Protecting Beleaguered Women in Situations of Armed Conflict in North Eastern Nigeria; A Review of the International Convention on Oil Pollution, Preparedness, Response and
Cooperation; A Legal Analysis of the Concepts of Genuine Link and Nationality Of Ships under the Doctrine Of Freedom of the High Seas; A Theoretical and Legal Perspective of Nigeria’s Corporate Governance Framework; and The Engagement of Corporate Social Responsibility Policies under the Companies And Allied Matters Act, (CAMA) 2020.
I sincerely appreciate the members of the Editorial Board and the Editorial Committee for their commitment and diligence in producing this edition of the National Open University of Nigeria Law Journal (NLJ) Volume 4, which is a worthy continuation of the earlier volumes. I strongly recommend it to all law students, legal practitioners, judges, academic, researchers and indeed the general public.
